Privacy Policy

This policy explains how Being a Teenager collects, uses, and protects information about visitors to this website. It is written to be clear, honest, and compliant with UK data protection law and the UK GDPR.

Who we are

Being a Teenager is a small, family-led initiative created to help parents, educators, and other adults understand the pressures teenagers face today. The site is run by Sarah — Elena Lilly's mum — and the contact address for privacy questions is sarah@theuniquenetwork.com.

Cookies and analytics

We use a small number of cookies to understand which parts of the site are useful and how visitors move between pages. This helps us improve content and fix problems. The information is anonymous and used only for this purpose.

We do not use cookies to identify children, to build advertising profiles, or to sell data to third parties. You can manage or delete cookies through your browser settings at any time.

What we collect and why

Most of this website can be read without giving us any personal information. We only collect personal data when you choose to use the contact form.

The contact form asks for your first name, email address, role, and message. We use these details solely to reply to your enquiry. We do not use them for marketing, newsletters, or any other purpose unless you explicitly ask us to.

Contacting us

To protect young people, only adults aged 18 or over may contact us through this site. Any child who wants to send feedback or contribute should ask a parent or guardian to do so on their behalf.

We will only contact parents or guardians who have declared themselves to be 18 or over and who have asked us to respond to something they have read on this website. We will never use data captured from this site to initiate outbound communication with children.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law you have the right to ask what information we hold about you, to correct it, to have it deleted, and to object to how it is used. If you would like to exercise any of these rights, please email sarah@theuniquenetwork.com.

We keep contact form information only for as long as needed to respond to your enquiry and a short reasonable period afterwards. After that, it is securely deleted.
